Privacy

Droptext turns a short video or audio file that you upload into text. This notice explains what is processed to do that. There is no account and no marketing list.

Who is responsible

The publisher of Droptext is the controller of personal data processed through this site. Until a registered address is published here, privacy requests can be sent through the operator's GitHub profile: github.com/odkiii.

What we process

• The file you drop, and the optional language you select.
• The transcript returned to your browser for that request.
• Technical logs created by the host (for example IP address, user agent, and time) as part of running the site.

We do not ask for your name, email, Instagram handle, or an Instagram URL.

Why

Processing is necessary to provide the transcription you requested (performance of a service you ask for). Host logs are used to operate, secure, and debug the site (legitimate interest in running a service).

Where it goes

The site is hosted on Vercel. Speech-to-text is performed by Groq from the audio we derive from your file. Those providers may process data in the United States or other countries. We do not sell your file or transcript and we do not use it for advertising.

How long

The upload is held only long enough to transcribe it, then discarded. We do not keep a media archive or a history of your transcripts on our servers. A copy remains on your device if you use Copy or Save. Host logs follow the host's retention window.

Cookies

Droptext does not set advertising or analytics cookies. The host may use strictly technical cookies or similar data needed to deliver the page.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA, UK, or another region with similar law, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection, and you may complain to a supervisory authority. Because we do not keep your file after the request, there is usually nothing left for us to delete. Do not upload recordings of other people unless you have a right to do so.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 16.
