Droptext

Reels to text

People search this when they already have the video and need the spoken lines — for a caption, a script rewrite, or a quote. Droptext does that from the file. It does not fetch Instagram for you.

What this page is for

A Reel is a short talking clip. The useful part is often the voiceover, not the cut. Instagram does not give you that script as a file. Droptext listens to the file you export and returns the words.

If you only have a public URL and no file, other tools scrape the page. That is a different product. This one stays on your device until a small speech file is sent to transcribe.

How to get a Reel file

You need the actual video, not the share link.

  • On your own Reel: use the download or save option Instagram shows the owner.
  • On someone else's Reel: Save video if the app offers it, or record the screen. Only do this when you have a right to copy the speech.
  • AirDrop, Files, or a messenger is enough. Then drop the mp4 or mov on the plate.

If the Reel is longer than two minutes

If the plate says the clip is too long, use Trim first two minutes. The browser keeps the first two minutes of speech. Then get text.

What you get

Plain text you can copy or save as .txt. No account. No Instagram login. Large files are shrunk in the browser before upload.

Questions

Can I paste an Instagram link?

No. Droptext never asks for a link or a login. Save or export the file, then drop it.

Does it work on music-only Reels?

If nobody is speaking, there is nothing to transcribe. You will get an error that no speech was found.

What languages work?

Pick a language or leave Auto. Russian, English, and the other listed languages are supported by the speech model.
